The company has opened an office in Kenya and is now looking to recruit a Business Analyst.
Job Description
  • Responsible for analyzing incoming data from operational projects and reporting on findings regularly, and developing intuitive visualizations to make the data easy to communicate;
  • Responsible for independently conducting quantitative analysis and modeling new projects for the company and potential clients;
  • Responsible for developing new models and maintaining existing ones, analytical processes or systems approaches;
  • Responsible for supporting the internal and external accounting teams as needed;
  • Creates documentation for all his/her activities;
  • Conducts desk and in market research in new markets, and supports the business development decision making process with comparative data analysis and business cases;
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details, abstract up from low level information to a general understanding;
  • Advising business and technical teams on options, risks, and costs;
  • Developing and maintaining key datasets including: Customer use cases;Key Market data;System performance, trends;
  • Contribute a financial perspective during project or client reviews;
  • Keep a current PowerPoint deck with illustrative data points and cases for use by the business development team.
  • Support the business development team with research, writing and data presentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance or any other related subject
  • M.S. in finance or engineering from a top tier school will be an added advantage
  • Strong work ethic, ability to adapt to changing priorities and be team oriented
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar role
  • 3 years of relevant work experience in the telecoms, infrastructure or energy sector
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical skills, preferably with experience in a financial institution
  • Strong reporting skills
  • Capability to handle sensitive and complex issues with discretion and good judgment
  • Excellent Excel and VBA modeling skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office (PowerPoint, Word) and Google Apps
  • Experience in programming in SQL, Python or other programming language used to manipulate large data sets is a big plus
  • Good understanding of finance and accounting, project finance, general research and be comfortable with regulations and legal documents
  • Technical affinity and in-depth data manipulation/analysis knowledge is also required

The Mandate

The Head of Corporate Business will be responsible for corporate business spanning distribution, new business processing, servicing, and product development.

Responsibilities:

• Driving the achievement of total company budgeted sales and profits for Corporate Business (Group Life, Group Credit Life, Annuities, Pensions) through brokers, agencies, direct sales force, affinity groups, mobile telephony platform, employers, bancassurance including automated channels and retail aggregator partnerships.
• Ensuring that new business acquisition and retention is line with and contributes to the agreed strategic plan and business targets.
• Overseeing the management of all channels generating corporate business to ensure generation of revenue and profitability according to business plan.
• Developing and roll out a multi channels strategy to increase the company’s market share in line with the business plan.
• Driving market research to underpin development of innovative product and brand solutions.
• Developing and launching new product offerings to meet emerging and existing needs of the market.
• Setting customer care\service standards for the corporate business and monitor to ensure these are met.
• Ensuring that sales and sales management processes are properly defined and documented, effectively supported with appropriate tools, and strictly adhered to.
• Developing and maintaining good quality sales management information systems so as to provide timely and effective insight into performance of Managers and channels alike.
• Ensuring that the corporate business back office operations team deliver service in line with the company’s overall service standards.
• Ensuring full compliance with existing regulations.
• Ensuring that the minimum business retention rate is achieved.

• Ensuring that new business acquisition and retention is in line with and contributes to the agreed strategic plan and business targets.
• Ensuring that the set minimum standards of recruitment, training, activity, productivity and compensation for the field force are adhered to.
• Developing the direct sales force’s office network, Sales Manager strength and Agent manpower, in line with the strategic and profitability objectives.
• Setting activity, productivity and quality (business retention, average premiums) standards and ensure that these are met throughout the direct sales force.
• Specifically monitoring and observing the actual behavior of Unit Managers, assessing their performance against key role competencies and improving their effectiveness through coaching and setting a good example.
• Regularly reviewing and updating all distribution channels, including: direct and mass market sales, Nairobi agents, and branches so as to ensure maximum client reach at appropriate cost levels.
• Implementing and developing new and innovative solutions and distribution systems to capture more business directly, including automated channels (mobile and web based) and retail and aggregator partnership e.g. with retail companies and member organizations.
• Developing and launching new products to the market place and ensuring that agents, the direct sales force, direct business, and branches are fully trained in such products.
• Defining training needs for all levels of the Field Force.
• Ensuring that sales and sales management processes are properly defined and documented, effectively supported with appropriate tools, and strictly adhered to.
• Developing and maintaining good quality sales management information systems so as to provide timely and effective insight into performance of Managers and Agents alike.
• Ensuring that the retail back office operations team deliver service in line with the company’s overall service standards
• Ensuring that the minimum persistency rate is achieved
• Executing marketing programs in liaison with the Group Marketing function.
