Job Title: University Publication Editor

Grade 12

Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya

Requirements:

• Applicants must be holders of Masters degree in Journalism, Communication OR a relevant degree in Social Sciences from a recognized institution.

In addition the applicants must have the following:

• At least three (3) years relevant work experience
• Be able to demonstrate administrative and professional competence in editorial work
• Successful applicants will be expected to perform editorial work of various University documents including magazines and theses.

• Applicants with a Ph.D degree in the relevant field will have an added advantage.

Terms of Service:

The terms of service for the above include a generous medical scheme, house allowance and commuting allowance. Successful candidates will be offered two (2) year renewable performance - based contract and gratuity will be paid at the end of the contract.

Regional Coordinators careers at Internews Europe in Kenya

Job Title:Regional Coordinators(2 Positions)

Internews Europe is an international media development organization that improves access to information and freedom of expression worldwide.

Internews Europe is launching a media development project focused on child rights in Kenya.

The project will support ‘traditional’ media outlets (TV, radio, newspapers) and use new media systems (websites, social media, and cell phones) to better communicate information on child rights issues, expand the public and policy debate, and amplify child and advocacy voices on child rights.

Internews Europe is looking for eleven (11) motivated staff members to implement the child rights media project.

Two (2) Regional Coordinators will be responsible for the development and implementation of projectactivities at the county level including the management of a Youth Media Bureau.

They will develop local partnerships, prepare events and write reports on activities.

Specific responsibilities:

-Provide overall management of the Youth Media Bureau including budget control, technical oversight and quality assurance.
-Builds and maintains relationships with media outlets, civil society organizations, schools and journalism clubs in the regions.
-Train and mentor already trained journalists and children/youth using the Youth Media Bureau in formal and informal settings to enable them capture child stories and child rights stories that are credible and creative.
-Develop partnerships with local media outlets to have child generated produced content aired/ published regularly.
-Coordinate some activities such as roundtables and forums as per program plans including communicating to relevant staff and guests the training schedules and identifying participants.

Qualifications:

-Diploma in Journalism and/or Communication.
-Minimum of 5 years experience in a reputable Kenyan media outlet or in a reputable CSO.

Skills:

-Good knowledge on the media industry in Kenya, with existing network in newsrooms, journalism schools and civil society.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-Good media production skills.
-Creativity and ability to work under minimum supervision.
